The Laboratory Department at Arab Medical Center (AMC) provides a wide range of diagnostic, routine, urgent, non-urgent, and specialized testing 24 hours/day, 365 days/year.
We are committed to provide our customers with high-quality, timely and accurate testing results, using innovative technology in a courteous and caring manner. Highly trained and certified technologists perform the tests with state of the art automated analyzers. They perform manual microscopic and analytical procedures necessary to provide accurate test results while applying the highest quality control criteria.
In addition to routine hematology, chemistry, endocrinology and immunology, we also perform specialized testing that include:
1. HLA TYPING/MATCHING; IMMUNOGENETICS; AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY:
This division performs tests for: infectious disease, genetic testing (e.g. Thrombophilia Factors) and virology testing.
The HLA Typing provides histocompatibility testing services that support the Bone Marrow Transplant program and Kidney Transplant at AMC.
2. PLATELET APHAERESIS:
A unique platelet aphaeresis unit is available for platelet product collection from a single donor. This process allows a single blood donor to donate the equivalent of up to 18 regular donors for selected products such as platelets and other blood components. This process maximizes the lifesaving donation.
Provides donor preparation by testing for infectious diseases and examination.
3. STEM CELL AND BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT LABORATORY:
Consists of two units: Stem Cell Collection and Stem Cell Processing Lab.
Stem Cells are collected from its three sources: Bone Marrow, Peripheral Blood and Umbilical Cord.
Stem cell collection is performed for both autologous and allogeneic pediatric (including low weight > 10 Kg) and adult donors.
Provides for collection, processing, cryopreservation and storage, to thawing of frozen cells for infusion at the same location.
Applies the highest quality control standards regulating stem cell collection, processing and preparation for transplant, which will reflect on patient’s quality of life.
All stem cell laboratory activities are performed within the Good Manufacture Practice (GMP) and Good Tissue Practice (GTP) guidelines.
The lab provides a Total Plasma Exchange procedure.
